Multiple reports suggest that Eljero Elia to Werder Bremen will be official on Monday. The Dutch midfielder has been signed to a four-year deal.

Eljero Elia has passed a medical and his signing with Werder Bremen will be made official on Monday, multiple sources are reporting. The midfielder signed a four-year deal with Juventus less than a year ago, but played just four times with the bianconeri, starting just once. So it's back to the Bundesliga for the Dutch international, with Bremen hoping he'll have an easier time of it in Germany.

Truth be told, it wasn't the lack of Elia's skills that left him unchosen in Turin. Rather, it was Antonio Conte's choice of system, his near insistence at the use of a 3-5-2, that hurt the Dutchman's chances. When originally signed by the Old Lady, Conte favored a 4-3-3, which would have allowed greater use of Elia.

Now it's up to Thomas Schaaf to make good on the midfielder. For his team, of course, but also for the poor Dutch, who desperately need a little hope when it comes to international play.
